It’s an interesting week for TV with lots of new shows that have clear connections for existing fans of actors and shows. RuPaul fans will be drawn to new Netflix comedy AJ and The Queen. David Tenant fans will want to check out the new UK murder mystery Deadwater Fell. Fans of CBS procedural FBI will likely check out it’s spin-off FBI: Most Wanted. And then there’s the spin-off from the weirdo Adult Swim comedy Children’s Hospital - Medical Police.
For Australian viewers, might I just give a quick recommendation for a US drama that is currently streaming at SBS On Demand: American Soul. It’s a biopic drama that debuted to very little attention in mid 2019 in the US on the BET channel. The show is a look behind the scenes at the creation and production of the seminal African American music show Soul Train. The drama is a little light on and I think the audio mix on the music doesn’t pop as much as it should. But the show is worth a look. The first two episodes will leave SBS On Demand late next week, so check it out ASAP. It is streaming HERE.
There’s also a slew of returning favourites this week. Might I draw your attention to the second series return of The Young Pope. It’s technically a new series that follows on, with this one titled The New Pope. It stars John Malkovich as the new guy.
