You’re not going to be short of things to watch this weekend… especially if you are looking for a movie. It’s not like there aren’t a few new shows to watch, but the best things this weekend are high-profile films that would have a lot more attention if there was a cinema marketing campaign attached.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Tom Hanks stars in an Apple TV+ movie - Greyhound. It’s absolute dad-magnet viewing with Hanks as a WWII Navy Captain. This was previously meant for a cinema release.
- Sundance critical hit Palm Springs debuts on Hulu - it is Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti in a Groundhog Day-style romcom. I’m not sure where this will be seen outside of the US.
- The Old Guard is an action film starring Charlize Theron, based on a comic book series by Greg Rucka. Reviews have been pretty strong for it.
- Horror film Relic goes straight to video on demand in the US, but is streaming now on local service Stan. Critics have been digging this one too.
The cinemas may have re-opened here in Australia, but with new films streaming with the likes of Tom Hanks, Charlize Theron, and Andy Samberg… it’s legit difficult to justify a trip out of the house to see a movie.
