There are a few bright spots this weekend for things to watch despite the fact that the highest profile release is the rather-not-good I Know What You Did Last Summer TV show reboot. Why did anyone think a dull, forgettable slasher film from 20+ years ago would be worth spending money on rebooting for 2021? Good question.

Worth watching instead: Apple TV+ has what I'm told is a great doco about The Velvet Underground. Directed by Todd Haynes, this is an absolute must-watch. And if you're not familiar with The Velvet Underground, I say skip the doco for the moment and stream at least their album The Velvet Underground & Nico. That's the one with the iconic banana on the cover.

Something that caught my attention: Needle in a Timestack. Terrible name for a film, but the trailer looks like an absolute delight if you're like me and really dig the time travel romance genre. No, really. This isn't me being droll.

I stumbled upon the trailer just yesterday via Twitter and was excited to realise that (for some reason) the John Ridley movie is going to cinemas in the US this weekend, but here in Australia it is streaming on Stan. That's my Friday night viewing sorted.

One last thing before this week's listings - I made a decision to stop including direct links to TV shows and movies. It was incredibly time consuming and my stats showed that very few of you were using those direct links. If it was something you found incredibly valuable, please let me know.

Cheers, Dan
