It is a bit of a nothing week for new shows. The only series with promise is the Guillermo del Toro anthology show Cabinet of Curiosities. As someone who is regularly awake these days between 3 and 4am, the new Amazon Prime Video show The Devil's Hour does hold some curiosity.
It may just be the lacklustre week, or it may be a sick perversion by me to suffer, but I not only watched Clerks 3, but I paid $17.99 for the privilege. The film is available this week as a digital purchase.
Putting aside the fact that the film is a laugh-free affair (it was barely even smirk inducing), there's something really uncomfortable watching the cast of the original film back for this looking every bit 25 years older. Knowing that none of them ever found much success outside of the low-budget indie film they filmed in 1993, it's difficult watching this film about convenience store workers (at least they own the store now) making a small indie movie about their lives - with every scene in the film within the film reflecting something we saw in the original movie. There's something just so sad watching these actors back in a Clerks film revelling in past glories.
I'm never going to see that $17.99 again.
