It's another week with some pretty huge titles launching.
Serious drama viewers should probably check out The Staircase - the scripted drama retelling of the hugely successful documentary series of the same name. Colin Firth stars.
The new Mike Myers comedy The Pentaverate. Against better judgment, I found myself really liking this. But I also know that if I viewed it on a different day, in a different mood, I would have had really, really hated it. And you can see from the very mixed reviews on this one that I'm not alone. So, check it out... with caution.
A deeper review:

There's also the return this week of Amazon Prime Video's Bosch. The show has been retitled and given a very minor new direction. But don't expect a clean jumping on point for new viewers with Bosch: Legacy.

My absolute favorite thing this week, though, is the brand new Star Trek TV show Strange New Worlds. It has the playful vibe of the original 60s incarnation of the series, along with the very impressive special effects seen in recent shows like Star Trek: Discovery. And unlike ST:D, this new show doesn't have an unfortunate acronym.
I also reckon that this show is a really great jumping on point for viewers who may have previously deemed Star Trek as not being for them. This version is already a hit with a lot of fans, but it is far more playful, earthy, and relaxed than other incarnations of Trek.
