Historically (ie the last few years) streaming services and cable would pump the summer months in the US with buzzy titles that would conclude by early September to stay out of the way of the launch of the new US network dramas. That's certainly not how it works anymore with most of the anticipated shows new and returning being streaming or cable series. And so this week, a week ahead of the launch of that new US broadcast season, we have a list of rather good titles to choose from. The times, they are a-changin'.
Pick of the bunch I say is the 6th and final season of The Good Fight. Ultimately, it is more of the same: Smart and funny story-of-the-week episodes that deliver really strong reflections of the confusing modern times we live in. It returns to Paramount+ in just a few hours. My Australian brothers and sisters... you can find it on SBS On Demand Saturday evenings.
The worst show of the week is Hulu/Disney+/Star UK comedy Wedding Season - but here's the thing... the show is perfectly okay. And for a week where this is the worst show: that's a pretty great week. Wedding Season is a romcom that concerns a wedding mass murder. No, really. It's not great, but it is funny in parts and pretty unique.
