Catherine Zeta Jones is Queen America + My Beautiful Friend + Ben Stiller's Escape

I appreciate that I might be alone in:

A) Liking Amazon’s The Romanoffs; and
B) Still watching The Romanoffs

But, last night I watched episode 5 ‘Bright and High Circle’ and was really taken with it. Diane Lane stars opposite Ron Livingston as well-to-do parents of young boys who have each taken piano lessons. A police officer visits Diane Lane’s character to ask if there has been any improper behaviour by the piano teacher, played by Andrew Rannells. What follows is an exploration of the morality of cutting someone out of your life at the mere suggestion that they’ve done something wrong, even without proof.

Enjoyable episode, but interesting considering writer/director Matthew Weiner’s own #metoo incident.

This week there are a few interesting new series. HBO’s Italian series My Beautiful Friend is the critical darling, but it’s interesting to see Catherine Zeta Jones doing a Facebook Watch series. Also interesting is Ben Stiller embracing a drama series with his Escape At Dannemora.

Queen America is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma and follows Vicki Ellis, the most renowned (and ruthless) pageant coach in the state, and the hapless Samantha Stone who hopes Vicki can mold her into worthwhile contender for the title of Miss America. Vicki is desperately sought after by young women competing to be Miss America for one reason; she can turn any girl into a winner. But when she gets paired with the beautiful but unpolished Samantha, Vicki's entire reputation might be at stake.

Escape At Dannemora - Showtime | Stan

After the June, 2015 prison break from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY, Joyce "Tilly" Mitchell is questioned about her involvement with the two men. Months earlier, Tilly enjoys her job at the prison tailor shop, balancing the temptations of David Sweat, a younger inmate, and her obligations to her husband, Lyle. Richard Matt, an inmate with an artistic talent, supplies oil paintings to guards in exchange for special treatment. Ultimately his attentions turn to Tilly.
