There’s quite a few things I could tell you right now:
I could point out that Apple TV+’s latest sci-fi show Dark Matter quite good. The blur as it jumps between alternate realities is a bit confusing visually, but that’s the point, I guess. Series star Jennifer Connelly looks pretty incredible at 53. These days, that isn’t that old, I guess.
I could also point out that just moments into watching it, I wrote off Prime Video’s German teen drama Maxton Hall as just being another take on Gossip Girl.
I might also mention that my love affair with John Mulaney’s Netflix nightly chat show has only grown with passion through the week. Each episode is maybe 10 minutes too long. It would actually be better served with ad breaks. Oh, and the musical number should be positioned in the middle of each episode.
But I will tell you none of those things. Instead, I have a question for you:
How have Disney and BBC screwed up the relaunch of Doctor Who so badly? This isn’t bad in the same way that Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted press tour went off the rails at every turn. But bad in that the volume of coverage around this relaunch just doesn’t seem to be there in the same way it has been for every relaunch of the show over the past (almost) 20 years.
There’s a few press interviews here and there. But fan enthusiasm seems to be really limited and everything about the return of the ol’ Doctor just seems so muted.
Did they mess it up with that year of random Doctor Who specials, diluting enthusiasm? Or are the timey wimey winds just blowing in a different direction?
