Does the US need to stop remaking UK comedies?

Jon O’Brien at Indiewire wasn’t too keen on the US remake of UK comedy Friday Night Dinner. He asks if the time has come for the US to stop remaking British shows for the local market. And I get what he’s saying, but considering the US market keep remaking so many of its own shows, it would actually be odd if they stopped remaking shows from overseas.
