Poker Face is back. But there's one show mid-season that has my heart aflutter.
It’s a bit of a ho-hum week for new shows. I’m excited that Poker Face is back for its second season. With two years since the previous season, I am apprehensive pressing play as I remember a very thin ongoing arc with Rhea Perlman turning up right at the end of the season (a voice cameo, if my memory serves). But I cannot remember a lick about the particulars of the plot.
Natasha Lyonne is back as Poker Face. Cynthia Erivo guest stars in the first episode back, with Rian Johnson directing. That all sounds good. But did we really need two years between seasons?
Now, consider that fairly light criticism and get set to call me a goddamn hypocrite as I now go on to say…
