The 10 year anniversary of one of Netflix's earliest originals (and it is a gem)
Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the release of Netflix series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. When we talk about the early Netflix originals, this show is often forgotten as being part of the mix. But, it did debut on July 31, 2015 and it’s still available to stream on Netflix.
A prequel to the 2001 film, it brought back the incredible cast and added an additional layer of who’s who.
From the original film, series cast included Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter, and Kevin Sussman.
And then they added new cast members Jason Schwartzman, Lake Bell, Samm Levine, David Wain (I’m not sure he really counts as a new addition), John Slattery, Michaela Watkins, Rich Sommer, Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, Randall Park, Michael Cera, Kirsten Wiig, and Josh Charles.
Oh, and Weird Al is in it too.
Maybe we can all agree to meet in another 10 years and rewatch the show together? Maybe make a day of it - meet at 9:30am?
