Why is Netflix preventing me from watching its service??? (Which I pay it money for)
Welcome to my great frustration of the moment. I cannot watch anything on Netflix. My household has been BLOCKED.
There’s a slight caveat to that, which I’ll get to in a moment.
When I load up Netflix and try watching anything, I get an arror message: “You seem to be using a VPN or proxy…”
And yes, I do regularly use a VPN in my household. But even on devices where one can’t use a VPN, I’m getting this error.
I can’t watch Netflix on my Hubbl set-top box. I can’t watch it on my Samsung computer monitor (which is Internet-enabled and comes with apps including Netflix).
I’ve tried rebooting my modem/router and my Google mesh network. It doesn’t do the trick. The error persists.
The consequence of this is that my family just isn’t watching Netflix in the household anymore.
Now, there is a caveat… I can access Netflix services if I turn on my VPN on my Apple TV.
AND THAT IS OBVIOUSLY MADNESS.
I’m not going to go to the effort of contacting my ISP about this and lose a few hours of my life dealing with tech support for a solution that may or may not work.
Is it even a problem related to my VPN use? I really don’t know.
How many customers is Netflix losing over these sorts of tech blockages? I get that it is trying to catch illicit use of its service, but how many innocent customers are being caught up with this?
