A slightly late newsletter this week. The usual(-ish) Friday 5pm send was interrupted by a heavy tropical storm that dumped a large volume of hail around the Always Be Watching palatial estate.

The big release of the show is, I guess, Prime Video actioner Reacher - a show that I suspect is way more popular than I ever give it credit for. But the show that nobody is paying any attention to that has a surprising amount of pathos and insight about us human folk is an animated limited series for Netflix Carol & The End of The World. Don’t let the generic-looking Bento Box style animation put you off - this is a gem.

Carol And The End Of The World TV review

Carol & The End of The World is about a quiet, nebbishy lady who is not sure how to act in a changed world. Earth is set to collide with another planet in seven months time and all of humanity is determined to spend that seven months living life to the fullest. But Carol’s not that kind of person.

Also, it may not surprise you that a lot of people just want to spend that seven months getting around naked. It is even less of a surprise that almost all of those people are guys.

It’s a quiet week for new TV shows. A good opportunity to take a gamble on Carol, I say.
