The latest incarnation of The Hardy Boys has been cancelled after just three seasons. Produced for Hulu, the show has been given eight episodes to wind up the series.

In this IP-driven world, I think it is time for Hollywood to understand that there is limited appetite for The Hardy Boys no matter how much they try. Once the final episode of the new show airs, just 31 episodes will have been made. That makes it the second longest-running of any Hardy Boys series.

In The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries TV show from 1977, still the best known version of the show, just 32 episodes (of the 46 episodes produced in total) featured The Hardy Boys.

There was also a 1995 Hardy Boys TV show that ran just 13 episodes. And a 17 episode 1969 animated series from Filmation.

Enough already. Please stop it with The Hardy Boys. And don't get me started on how much TV audiences also don't care for Nancy Drew...

This is one mystery solved.
