What Could I Be Watching? 10-11 November 2018

This is a quiet week for new shows. And even a number of ongoing series skipped this week, trying to avoid being caught up in all the interest surrounding the US midterms.

So, what actually debuted this week? It’s a week of returning series. But worth your attention is the new big budget Netflix film Outlaw King. It’s a bit Braveheart-y, so if that’s your thing, give it a look. There’s a really interesting Indiewire article about the movie’s director, David Mackenzie, hurriedly re-editing the film following a disastrous premiere.

After being crowned King of Scotland, legendary warrior Robert the Bruce is forced into exile by the English and leads a band of outlaws to help him reclaim the throne.

Patriot - Season 2 - Amazon [US]

To prevent Iran from going nuclear, intelligence officer John Tavner must forgo all safety nets and assume a perilous "non-official cover" - that of a mid-level employee at a Midwestern industrial piping firm.

Mr D - Season 8 - CBC [Canada]

Based on Gerry Dee's real-life experiences as a high school teacher before he switched to comedy full-time, MR. D is a story about a charming, under-qualified teacher trying to fake his way through a teaching job, just like he often fakes his way through life. The premise shines the light on teaching from the teacher's point of view, and as it turns out, teachers don't know everything, especially Mr. D - who struggles to keep one step ahead of his students.

Outlander - Season 4 - Starz [US]

Claire and Jamie cross paths with Stephen Bonnet, a pirate and smuggler who enlists their help; Claire illuminates Jamie on some of America's history, leading him to wonder if it's possible for them to lay down roots.
