What you'll be watching this weekend: 21-23 June 2019
Always Be Watching is curated by Dan Barrett
It is a mixed bag this week with some great new shows and some absolute trash. For a Leonard Elmore-influenced drama, you’d be hard-pressed to go past Jett. Carla Gugino is great in it and while it’s not quite as good as Elmore, it’ll scratch that itch for you.
City on a Hill has a lot of potential and with Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life On The Street, Oz) as showrunner, I’m interested to see how it develops. Euphoria is better than expected, but I found that enjoyment will really be connected to how interested you are in teen drama - my interest in the age bracket is waning.
Some late breaking news:
This afternoon came word that Bill Collins has passed away.
It is with deep sorrow we share the sad news that Australian entertainment icon, “Mr Movies” Bill Collins passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday, June 20, 2019.
Bill was 84 and lived a life filled with love and devotion for and from his family. It was also filled with passion for movies and Hollywood and all the adventures and opportunities associated with his 55 year career in the entertainment industry.
As a kid I watched Collins presenting films from the Golden Years of Hollywood on the weekends and it was my first real exposure to the idea that film had a rich history that should be considered and preserved. It’s very sad to hear of his passing.
